Criteria and eligibility (DFA applicants)
1. Applicants must attend High School in “Orange County”.
2. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior in the year of the award.
3. Applicants must qualify under the McKinney-Vento Program (MVP) with Orange County Public Schools (OCPS). Verification must come from a school counselor.
4. Applicants must submit a transcript demonstrating a 2.5 or above grade point average.
5. All applicants must submit documentation demonstrating 20 hours of community service.
6. All applicants must attend a 2-hour financial workshop.
7. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation (From school counselor, teacher, pastor, etc.).
8. Applicant must choose from one of the topics listed below and write a 2-page essay.

– How would attending college or vocational school impact your life?
January 20, 2026, application process opens.
February 27, 2026, application deadline.
March 13, 2026, scholarship committee selects award recipients.
March 25, 2026, award recipients’ mandatory finance class.
April 18, 2026, award ceremony.
